Ms. Betty Lou Jarrett, 1093 Farewell Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054, was born December 19, 1937 in Gaston County, NC. She departed this life on Friday; October 5, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Betty was a 1958 graduate of Lincoln High School in Bessemer City, NC.  She was a member of  Humphrey Chapel AME Zion Church in Dallas, NC where she was a part of the Senior Ladies Group, 1st President of the Junior Usher Board, Senior Usher Board Member, past President of WHOM Society; Home Missions Representative and Queen on Conference Level, member of the Christian Education Department; an active member of the Sunday School and a member of the Hymn Choir.  She was employed at Airline Mills for  in Dallas, NC for twenty-five years.  Betty was an in home baby sister for family and friends.   She worked as a housekeeper for a short time at Alexandria Place in Gastonia and when she got older she also took care of some of her family and friend’s adult family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Oswald and Lula Williams-Jarrett; two brothers: John Williams and Joseph Jarrett; six sisters: Mary Sanders, Lois Walton, Dorothy Patterson, Ella Sue Friday, Shirley Reid and Nellie Barrows; one son: James Jarrett; and one grandson: Juan Floyd.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are a son: Anthony Jarrett, Gastonia, NC; two daughters: Darnell Faulkner (Kenny), Advance, NC and Loura Jarrett-Littlejohn, Gastonia, NC; sister: Tula Mae Friday, Gastonia, NC;  grandchildren: Jamie Littlejohn, Kadeidra Jarrett, Shameka Jarrett, Quinton Faulkner (Sabrina), Trevon Faulkner, Derick Faulkner (Courtney) and Kenya Faulkner; great grandchildren Dakota and Addison Chareunphong, Steven Orlando Wilson, KeMaijai Glover, and Emery Faulkner, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Funeral: Wednesday; October 10, 2018; 2:00 p.m.; Humphrey Chapel AME Zion Church-603 W. Main Street, Dallas

Visitation: thirty minutes before the service at the church and other times at 1568 Brett Shane Court, Gastonia

Interment: Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia

    We're so sorry to hear you are suffering the loss of your dear loved one. May you find strength and some comfort in the words found in Nahum 1:7 which reads: ”Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of distress. He is mindful of those seeking refuge in him.” Our loving God cares about us and is ready to bring us comfort if we allow him (1John 5:14).
