Our beloved, Mamie Lee Pressley, 76, passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2018. She was born in Gaston County on June 22, 1942 to the late Sam and Ruby Lipscomb. 

Mamie Pressley accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a faithful dedicated member of  New Home A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a member in the Willing Workers Club, Missionary Society, Hymn Choir, Stewardess & Women's Club. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Bessemer City, NC and retired from Carolina Mills where she worked as a spinner. 

Mamie loved singing, animals, bowling, and being out in her garden. The love she had for her family and friends never went unnoticed and she will always be loved and missed dearly by everyone she came in contact with. 

Mamie was preceded in death by her loving husband: John Edward Pressley; Beloved daughter: Valorie Pressley; and two brothers: Theodore Lipscomb and James Lipscomb. 

Mamie leaves to cherish her loving memory to her four sons: John Pressley (Mia-devoted caregiver) of Dallas, NC; Vernon Pressley (Constance) of Shelby, NC; Vience Pressley (Veronica) of Morven, NC and Mark Givens of Gastonia, NC. One daughter: Barbra Miller of Gastonia, NC. Three sisters: Renee Lipscomb of Gastonia, NC, Phyllis Reid of Gastonia, NC, and Iris Lipscomb of Fredericksburg, Va. Four brothers: Sammie Lipscomb (Marie) of Charlotte, NC; George Lipscomb of Gastonia, NC; David Lipscomb of Gastonia, NC and Bobby Lipscomb of Gastonia, NC. Fourteen grandchildren: Nicole Pressley, Michael Pressley, John Pressley, Trey Gregory, Joshua Crawford, Khamari Crawford, Jaden Pressley, Marquise McLean, Antwaine McLean, Demetrius Martin, Kiera Pressley, Tevin Pressley, Vience Pressley, Jr., Valen Pressley and five great-grandchildren: Kayla Pressley, Cameron Perry, Mariah Pressley, Alani Pressley, and Hailey Pressley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral:  Saturday; October 6, 2018; 11:00 a.m.; New Home AME Zion Church-3290 Charlotte Highway; York, SC

Visitation: one hour before the service at the church

Interment: New Home Church Cemetery, York

    We're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
