Obituary
Mr. James Walker Jr., was born to the late Mrs. Ola Mae Neal Walker and the late Mr. James Walker Sr., in Thomaston, Upson County Georgia, on January 13, 1928. He attended public schools in Upson County.
When he reached manhood he moved to Chicago, Illinois, for a better opportunity. He live all of his adult life in Chicago. He was employed by U.S. Steel Company until he reached retirement. He was a member of Evening Star Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois.
James met Ms. Deloris Vinson. They were married on November 25, 2009. James and Deloris shard almost nine years together. Whatever made James happy, made Deloris happy. They took their vows seriously and made life happy for each other, in sickness and in health.
James loved his family and would return home every year for the Emancipation Proclamation Celebration and Thanksgiving. In 2017 he moved back to Georgia. He would often attend Mary Lizzie Baptist Church with his niece, Jennifer. During his leisure time, he enjoyed grilling, fishing, playing the lottery, and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Hattie Mae Walker and Mattie C. Walker. On Sunday, September 16,2018, the Lord called him home. His spirit took flight and went home to rest. He will be greatly missed by his family.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Mrs. Deloris Walker of Macon , Georgia; one son, Mr. James Phillips of Chicago, Illinois; three stepchildren, Mr. Rodney (Charlotte) Wilson of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. April (Anthony) Manuel of Gary, Indiana, and Ms. Christina Wilson of Park Forest, Illinois; a devoted niece, Mrs. Jennifer Lowe of Thomaston, Georgia: four great-nieces, Mrs. Wanda Walker, Mrs. Kathie (Tyrone) Perry Ms. Tyra Perry and Ms. Meona Lowe, all of Thomaston, Georgia; two great-nephews, Jamall Kendall and Desmond Walker both of Thomaston, Georgia; four devoted cousins, Mrs. Cora Campbell, Mr. Benjamin Walker, Mrs. Ruby Walker, and Mrs. Margie Walker; and the rest of the Walker and King family.
