Eloise Ball Falls, a lady of formality, lived 96 years delighted in sports, culture, music, culinary specialties, and her most cherished creation Thomas Davenport Falls, closed her eyes and transitioned to eternal life in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 16, 2018. She relished deep sea fishing, was a dedicated fan of tennis stars, Serena and Venus Williams, golf prodigy Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods, and her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She was quite an observer of social behaviors, while always demonstrating respectful traditional values in her interactions with others; favored a variety of musical artists from Billie Holliday to Pit Bull; enjoyed heirloom cast iron skillet croaker to luxury fine dining; and served 17 years on the Gaston County Board of Mental health.  She first retired from the laboratory of Precision Seals. After traveling for 18 months she became bored and became a valued employee of JC Penney and retired again after 25 years of service. She valued her civic responsibilities by her assertive activities in the political arena. She guided others in registering and provided transportation to the voting precincts. She loved First Baptist Church and was a dedicated member for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Falls loved and cherished God’s gift of family, extended family and friends. She appreciated their individualities, temperaments and experiences. Her love for understanding and engaging with the younger generation was evident in holiday gatherings. Those with cherished memories can reflect on how special she made them feel when she listened but they needed to be prepared for her truthful responses.

Born May 1, 1922, in Richmond, Virginia, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Thomas Ball, she experienced the loss of her mother at a very early age and shared the joy of being raised by her father with her sister Goldie Ball Jesey and adopted brother, Benjamin Clark. She was educated in Richmond County public schools and Virginia Union University.

Eloise Ball met, fell in love, and married Franklin Lavalious Falls and for 27 years they made their home in Dallas, North Carolina. To that union leaves one child, Thomas Davenport Falls.  Mrs. Falls was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and adopted brother.  Left to cherish her memories are her loving son, Thomas D. Falls, Charlotte, NC, a very special cousin Lena Wright, Charlotte, NC, four nieces, Millicent and Rita Campbell, Charlotte, NC, Selma Pinnix, Greensboro, NC, Debra Coles, New Haven, Connecticut, 1 nephew, James Smith (Kathy), Ellenwood, GA, nine great nieces, and two great nephews. Residing in the care of her son is her furry child, Boris Bentley Falls.

Loving extended family members are two god sons, Eric “Honey Dripper” Forney (Harriett), Belmont, NC, Efrim Jones (Sylvia), Nassau, Bahamas, Carla Jackson (Lydell), Gastonia, NC, Charlie Shoats, Gastonia, NC, Carolyn Pitts, Charlotte, NC , Valerie Friday, Dallas, NC, and every member of the Barnett family,.

Special love and appreciation is also extended to her supportive friends, Doris Boulware, Jean Bridges, Jolene Hoke, Willie B. Murriel, Annie Pearl Wilson, Josie Wilson, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Stanley Total Living Center.

I would like to express my condolences in the loss of your dear loved one. The bible gives us hope of seeing them again in the promised resurrection according to such scriptures as [John 5:28-29] and [Acts 24:15]. We find further hope in [Revelations 21:3-5] which says that Jehovah God will wipe away every tear from own eyes, and [Isaiah 25:8] says that God will swallow up death forever. I hope these scriptures will be of some comfort. With Deep Sympathy.
