Mrs. Laura Sharp Davis, 85, of 940 Newcastle Road, Gastonia, NC 28052 quietly slipped into eternal rest on Monday; September 10, 2018 at home.  She was born on February 22, 1933 in York County, Clover, SC to the late James Alexander Sharp, Sr. and Sarah “Newt” Mason Tate.

Mrs. Laura Sharp Davis, affectionately called “Polly” and “Big Mamma,” was educated in the Clover Public Schools.  She was employed at HomeLite “John Deere” for 35 years, and at Bojangles for 10 years as a biscuit maker, drawing tips from everyone who tasted her biscuits.  She was employed by Walmart for 5 years on Franklin Square in Gastonia, NC.

“Polly” has been a faithful member of Liberty Hill, born again and filled with His Precious Holy Spirit.  She was truly committed to the betterment of the church and served as an usher, member of booster ministry and a missionary.  She had a love for the preaching and her pastor.  Polly was full of joy and could be seen clapping and patting her feet as the songs of Zion were being sung.

“Big Mamma” was loved by many.  She would feed anyone who came around, especially on Sundays and friends would come from all around and pull up to the table.  She was a loving mother and grandmother, a friend who would do whatever she could for anyone.  She loved shopping, especially going to Walmart, reading the Bible and humming was at the top of her list.  Mrs. Laura Sharp Davis will be truly missed by all, but “never forgotten!”

She is preceded in death by her husband: Mr. Sammy Lee Davis; one son: Eugene Moss; one brother: James Sharp and two cousins: James Bailey and Ben Brown.

Cherishing Laura’s love and precious memories are: one son: Rev. Grady Moss Sharp (Geraldine) of Charlotte, NC; two daughters: Mattie Sadler of the home and Dorothy Davis of Dallas, NC; five sisters: Mary Tate of Gastonia, NC, Mary Sharp Johnson of York, SC, Jannette Sharp McConnell of Salina, KS, Lizzie Smith of Charlotte, NC; and Debra Talie;  two brothers: John and Hunter Sharp of York, SC; nine grandchildren: Vashon, Carlos, Derrick, Maurice, Eugene, Malcom, Loretta, Gena, and Kayla; eighteen great grands, seven great-great grandchildren; in-laws: Rosie Webber, Cornell Davis, Paul Davis, Ruby Davis, Daisy Dover, Gail fuller, Annie Littlejohn and Mrs. Alephenia Nelson; special cousins: Magalene Gaither and Geraldine Barnett; special friend: Mable Isom and a host of other relatives and friends.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I am praying for strength beyond normal, to comfort you and your family. God does Not cause death right now. Time and unforeseen occurrences befall all. Ecclesiastes 9:11. Soon our heavenly father is sending his son , Jesus, to solve all mankinds problems, by means of his kingdom coming here on Earth. Matthew 6:10; Daniel 2:44 .The scripture", Our father who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth , as it is in Heaven." You see it is a government that Jesus will rule as King. It will bring no more pain, no more sorrow, no more tears, no more death. Revelation 21:3-5. The dead will live again, here on Earth. Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:11, 29; Isaiah 26:19. Make sure you look up all the scripture to see this is all true. There is more. If your interested please email : It is all Free. Kathy
