Obituary Send Flowers Send a Card

Philip A. Rix, 75, passed away Monday, August 13, 2018, from complications of COPD.  He was born in 1942 in Canada to Philip and Norma (Gill) Rix.

Phil started his career in the car sales business 46 years ago after attending college at Florida State University.  He retired from Whitehead Chevrolet in 2016 here he was Sales Manager for many years.

Phil was an accomplished guitarist and loved to play at venues in town.  He was the lead guitarist for the Cactus Flats Band and played for many years with his buddy, Dan Mason.

Phil will be remembered for the gentleman and the gentle man that he was, for his kindheartedness and great sense of humor.  He would do anything in his power to help friends and family.  He was an amazing husband and father.  He showed his wife, Karen, what true love really was and was still ‘taking care’ of her until the end.

He had a lifelong passion of fishing and especially loved saltwater fishing.  He and his wife went on many fishing vacations and spent several months on the Texas gulf coast.  When not saltwater fishing, he loved fishing the local waters.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Norma Rix; and by his daughter, Terry.  Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughter, Kathleen; and stepsons – Shane D’Amour and Eric Mays.

The Lord took you way too soon, but I know you’re picking and grinning for an elite audience now, and, of course, telling jokes.  Rest in Peace my love.
