Rocky Mount - Robert Earl Stokes, 72, affectionately called "Stokes" by his loving family and friends, heard the voice of the Lord saying "Come Unto Me and Rest" and departed this earthly life on Monday, July 09, 2018, in the serenity of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A Home Going Celebration will be held 1 pm, Saturday, July 14, 2018, in the sanctuary of the Jerusalem Baptist Church, 426 Cutchins St., Whitakers, NC 27891. The viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Town of Whitakers Cemetery.

    We deeply feel for what you and the family are going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: "Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress." Yes, our Loving God can help if we allow him to (1John 5:14). He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth, when it is restored to a Paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11,29).
