Ms. Melody Yvette McClain was born on April 15, 1973 to the late Charlie and Lois Grice McClain in Lincoln County, North Carolina.  She departed this earthly life on Mon day; Jul7 2, 2018 after a long battle with sarcoidosis at her home in Lexington, South Carolina.  She was forty-five years old.

She was a member of Rock Hill United Methodist Church.  Melody was a 1991 graduate of East Lincoln High Senior High School.  She worked for Burger King, Professional Mailing Service (PMS), Target, and was still employed with Verizon Wireless in Columbia, South Carolina.

In addition to parents, Melody was preceded in death by a brother: Charlie E. McClain, Jr., a sister: Carmenbenetta McClain and her beloved dog: Sly.Pilz McClain.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory to her partner of nineteen years: Candace (Candi) Pilz of the home; her beloved cats: Sophia and Shadow; four sisters: Myra Houston (John) of Charlotte, NC, Sybil Johnson (Kevin) of Stanley, NC, Joyce McClain of Denver, NC; Sheila McLean of Mt. Holly, NC; two brothers: James McClain of Charlotte, NC and Tony Byrd of Charlotte, NC; in-laws: Bert and Kathleen Pilz; second mom: Phyllis Foster; aunts and uncles: Alfredella Reid, Lucy McCorkle, Cecilia McCorkle, Paulette Williams, Will Grice (Joanne), Donald Grice (Belinda), Perry Grice, Arthur Lee McLean, Sr., (Debbie), Benjamin McLean, Jr., Georgia Mae Norman, and Jackie McClain (Clara) and a  host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Saturday; July 7, 2018; 1:00 p.m.; Rock Hill United Methodist Church-7603 Old Plank Road, Stanley

Visitation: one hour before the service at the church

Interment: Gold Hill-Rock Hill Church Cemetery, Stanley

    Mel, you will be missed although I hadn't seen you in years; I still remember the fun we used to have going to Eastland Mall on our lunch when we worked for Professional Mail Services. RIP my friend. My prayers and thoughts go out to Sis, Joyce,her other sisters brothers,her partner of 19 years, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles,and other family members, and friends who love and will miss Mel.

    We're so sorry to hear you are mourning the recent loss of your loved one. May you find strength and comfort from the words of Psalms 46:1 which reads: "God is our refuge and strength, A help that is readily found in times of distress." Our loving God is there for us if we ask for his help (1 John 5:14). He didn't intend for us to grow old and die. He thus has made the SURE promise of a resurrection RIGHT HERE ON EARTH when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Psalms 37:9-11, 29; Acts 24:15; Isaiah 55;11).
