Funeral service for Mr. James Kerley will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at St. John C.M.E. Church, Pastor Jerrell C. Hicks officiating. Interment follows at Lincoln Hills Cemetery. West Gadsden Funeral Home is directing.

Public visitation is from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, with the Family Hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Monica Kerley; his daughters: Vonetta Byers, Orquenetta Jemison, Vanessa Kerley; siblings: Virginia Clark, Charles (Helen) Kerley, Helena Kerley, Lorraine Deramus, Mary (Nathan) Carter, John (Annie) Kerley, Angela K. Reed, Josephine Kerley; and sister-in-law, Larene Kerley.

    We deeply feel for what you and the family are going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: "Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress." Yes, our Loving God can help if we allow him to (1John 5:14). He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth, when it is restored to a Paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11,29). No, not just a dream, but for a certainty he will do it, for Isaiah 55:11 shows us that everything he says, he accomplishes without fail. You can find out more online at JW.ORG
