Obituary

Deacon Willie B. Caldwell, Jr. more affectionately known growing up as “Booley,” was born July 26, 1950 to Mrs. Clydie Cunningham Petty and the late Mr. Willie B. Caldwell, Sr., in Thomaston, Upson County Georgia. He received his early education in the Cunningham school in Yatesville, GA. At an early age he joined the Logtown Bethel Church where he remained a faithful and dedicated member throughout his lifetime.

When he reached manhood he went to work at Thomaston Mills where he was employed for over seventeen years. He later found employment with Federal Paper Board. He had good work ethics and provided well for his family. On June 1, 1997 he married Ms. Terry Grantling. To this union two children were born. He was a loving and devoted husband and father to all his children, and he loved his family.

Deacon Caldwell had a strong faith in God and maintained a relationship with his Heavenly Father and his church. He served on the Usher Board, sang in the Male Choir, taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, served on the Cemetery Committee a and in many other capacities. Seeing his faithfulness in the church, and to God, he was ordained a deacon on December 6, 2009. He was presently serving as Vice-Chairman of the Deacon Board. He faithfully supported his church and his pastor.

Deacon Caldwell enjoyed working in the church, reading the Word, listening to Gospel Music and TV Preachers, making the church lemonade, visiting others who were sick in the community, and working outdoors. He was family oriented. He loved family gatherings, visiting his mother and checking on her, and helping in the community in anyway he could.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, James Edward Caldwell. On Monday, May 21, 2018, the Lord saw His son in distress. He whispered his name and called him home from labor to rest. He will be greatly missed by his family, his church family and many friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Terry Caldwell; his mother, Mrs. Clydie Petty; five children, Mr. Wykato Caldwell, Ms. Takeesa Caldwell, Mr. Javaris Caldwell, and Mr. Jacolby Caldwell, and Mr. Charlie Womble; four grandchildren, Mokesha Caldwell, Markasia Sheffield, Kanizye Caldwell, and Kordae Caldwell; one great-grandson, Ny’Kalan Fuwentes; three sisters, Evangelist Teresa (William) Anthony, Mrs. Loretta (Jerome) Walker, and Mrs. Elaine Taylor; five brothers, Mr. Tony Petty, Mr. Willie Cleve (Sherri) Caldwell, Mr. Johnnie Ray Caldwell, Mr. Dennis Caldwell, and Mr. Kenneth Caldwell; father-in-law, Mr. Joe Freeman (Dorothy) Ivey; sisters and brothers-in-lwa, Mrs. Kim Searcy, Mr. Tony Grantling, Ms. Chrystal Ivey, Mr. Joe Ivey,Jr., and Ms. Christina Pulliam; aunts and uncles, Deacon Calvin (Lillie Mae) Cunningham, Mrs. Mildred Caldwell, Mr. Earnest Kendall, Mrs. Easter Little, Mrs. Betty (Elmo) Cobb, Mrs. Lorene Easley, Mr. John (Faye) Ivey, Mr. Abner (Rose Mary) Ivey, Mrs. Annie Rene (Minister Earmest) Simmons, Mrs. Allfa (Horace) Jordan, Mrs. Alma (Lenward) Daniley, Mrs. Clara (John) Andrews, Mrs. Mattie Mae Lee, and Mrs. Earnestine (Joe) Daniely; two devoted friends, Deacon Danny Thurmond, Deacon Charlie Worthy, and Mr. Dennis Colbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.
