Ms. Carolyn Denise Quiller Powell  was born to the late Mrs. Alene Tigner Quiller and the late Mr. Oscar Quiller on January 1, 1957, in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. She attended public schools in the Upson County School System. She graduated from Drake High School and later attended DeVry Institute and obtained an Associate Degree.

At an early age, Carolyn joined the New Hope Baptist Church in Talbotton, GA. She later joined the Springhill Community Baptist Church where her step-father, the late Rev. Cliff Respress, was pastoring. Wanting to  closer to home and community, she joined Friendship Baptist Church. Here, she served in the Ushers Ministry. She was faithful and loved the preaching of the word.

Carolyn was a loving and devoted mother of two, Tawanna and Anthony. She strived to give them all she could in material comfort, as wall as a spiritual home. To help support her children, she worked at Thomaston Mills and later Federal Paper Board. She loved her family and strived to be a good mother and role model for her children.

During her spare time, she enjoyed working in the community, reaching out to help anyone she could. She enjoyed taking care of children and senior citizens. She loved to read, especially her Bible, loved doing research, writing, traveling and shopping. She was a collector of Obama’s memorabilia, and she loved gospel music, especially Lee Williams.

Carolyn had a strong faith in God. Even when sickness attacked her body, she always kept the faith and trusted God for her healing. On Friday, April 27, 2018, the Lord saw his daughter in distress. He whispered her name and called her home to rest. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Ms. Tawanna Quiller of Thomaston, GA, and Mr. Anthony Powell of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren; one sister, Ms. Elaine Quiller Adams of Thomaston, GA; three brothers, Mr. Arthur (Janice) Quiller, Mr. Willie (Debbie) Quiller and Mr. Tony (Ann) Quiller, all of Thomaston, GA; one aunt, Mrs. Annie Mae Crawford; two uncles, Mr. Jessie B.
