Mrs. Phyllis Denise King was born in Chattanooga, TN to the parents of Mrs. Clementine Thompson Watson and Mr. Wesley Taylor on August 25,1965. Her early education was in Tennessee.

Her mother late moved back to Georgia and she was educated in the Pike County School System and graduated from Upson High School.

She joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church at an early age. She sung in the choir and was active in the church. She later moved her membership to Welcome Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. A. Matthews. She sung in the choir and worked with the youth.

She was the mother of three children. To help support her family she worked as a store manager for Conco for many years. She also worked at Providence Health Care., Manager of Rest-Care, Help at Home and Home Nurse. She gave of her time and skills to help those in need.

Phyllis later joined the True Believers in Christ Church in Molena under the leadership of Rev. Fred Blackman. She joined the choir and became active in the church.

During her leisure time she enjoyed going to church, singing in the Choir, listening to gospel music, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

On March 30, 2018, the Lord called her name. She answered the call and went home to be at rest. Her departure has saddened the hearts of her family, but her memory will live on.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Mrs. Shametrick (Derirkican) Bridges, Mr. Ricky King (Jamelia) and Mr. Alonzo King. Four grandchildren, Branterius King Omarion King, Jaquvian Smith and Jayla Smith. One  sister, Mrs. Sandra Whitaker. Two brothers; Mr. Phil (Mary Ann) Taylor and Mr. Reginald (Carolyn) Thompson. Two children she raised, Ms. Lawanda King and Ms. Shamekia  Carter. One God-daughter, Ms.  Brithi Jordan and one God-son, Mr. Jeffery Maines. Three nieces, Cherie Whitaker, Unisa Thompson and Shanita Thompson. Five nephews, Theren Whitaker, Denzel Jackson, Timara Jackson, Ira Thompson and Amos Thompson. A best friend, Ms. Janet Ellerbee. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
