McKinley Welch was born Thursday, March 8, 1945 to Sid Welch and Reather Houston Welch in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS.

During his youth, he joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Preston, MS.  He enjoyed church services and loved going to church. He attended Whisenton High School in DeKalb, MS.

He was once gainfully employed with the Mississppi Band of Choctaw Indians at the Silver Star Casino in Choctaw, MS and with Pharma Pac in DeKalb, MS.  After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and conversation with people. He was a people's person.  He was the father of two children, both sons.

He departed this life on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in DeKalb, Kemper County, Ms at the age of 72. McKinley's life touched many, and those who were touched by his life understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile and laughter brought great joy to his family and friends. Although in his last days he was quite ill, but he gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. He enjoyed being with his family, having fun with friends, and living his life to the fullest.

Survivors are:  two sons, Charles McDade of Columbus, OH, and Jason Jones of DeKalb, MS: one daughter-in-law, Peggy Grady Jones of DeKalb, MS; three siblings-all sisters, Mary Welch of Ankeny, IA; Barbara Welch Dale of Des Moines, IA; and Lacy Lou Welch of DeKalb, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

It truly saddens me that you are going through these difficult moments. May you find some comfort in the words of Nahum 1:7 which reads: "Jehovah is good, a stronghold in the day of distress. He is mindful of those seeking refuge in him." Yes, we can totally rely on our Loving God. He also has made the sure promise of a resurrection right here on earth when it is restored to a beautiful paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11, 29, Isaiah 55:11). Then death will be gone forever (Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:3,4) Find out more about this resurrection online at JW.ORG
