Obituary

Deacon Charles Gregory Sutton was born November 8, 1930 in Barnesville, Georgia to Charlie Smith and Roberta Sutton.

Deacon Sutton was educated in Lamar County School System where he attended Barnesville Industrial High School. While in school he developed a love for sports and demonstrated athleticism in several sports throughout his years in high school. He was an avid Trojan Fan. He attended local athletic events whenever possible and frequently watched televised sporting events.

Deacon Sutton loved his country and demonstrated his patriotism by joining the United States Air Force. He served in the 84th Brigade for four years as a paratrooper, Following his discharge from the military, he returned home to Barnesville and harnessed his skills in the field of construction.

Deacon Sutton learned early on that he had a gift for building things. He worked in the Construction Industry for over forty-nine years. As Business Owner and Independent Contractor, his handiwork is evident in many home and businesses in Barnesville and the surrounding counties.

One of his major construction projects was building the homes in Lynette Heights, a local subdivision. He also built the house that he shared with his wife Annie. His passion for building did not wand over time, and he was completing two projects at the time of his passing.

Left to cherish his memories and honor his legacy are: his devoted wife of 28 years, Annie F. Sutton; his children Robert Zellner (Griffin, GA), Vanessa Sutton (West Palm Beach, FL), Beaufort Fambro (Barnesville, GA), and Stacey Fambro (LaGrange, GA); his grandchildren Tiffany Zellner, Chad Zellner, Patrick Zellner, Marcus Zellner, Quincey Zellner, Stefon  Fambro, and Alec Fambro, and Alex Fambro; nine-great grandchildren; his brother Charles (Sandra) Smith, North Carolina; his aunts Lucille Kendall and Mollie Lewis, his Sisters-in-law, Mattie (Alfred) Hutchinson, Bertha O’Neal, Portia Ogletree, Faye Lockheart, and Roylene (Dendrick) Watson; his Brothers-in-law, Tyrone (Charlene ) Smith, Johnny O’Neal, E Toy Ogletree, Bobby Edge, and Nathaniel Edge; his God-children David (Treesomia) Walker, Taylor Walker, and Kennedy Walker.
